China’s EV giant – BYD opened a new office, marking the first significant strides in the Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) market for a better sustainable lifestyle in the future. 

BYD (Build Your Dreams) initially was a Chinese company that manufactured and supplied batteries for NOKIA. In 2003, BYD began expanding into the automotive sector and launched its first car model two years later, opening a new era for the EV market. Taking advantage of their own battery technology which is rated top of the world, BYD has developed outstandingly with many remarkable achievements and memorable milestones. BYD has surpassed other competitors to hold the largest world EV’s market share, accounting for an impressive 21% of global EV sales during the first half of 2024.

After being underrated due to limitations in cost, technology as well as low sales, the potential of the EV industry began to prosper during the period 2010-2022. Grasping the new trends of electric cars, BYD, with the ability to master technology and completely self-control the production of industry chains, is always a pioneer in the field of batteries and high-quality green technology products.

In 2024, BYD officially entered the Vietnamese EV market with 3 versions of electric cars including Dolphin, Seal and Atto 3, suitable for varied customer segments, promising to diversify solutions for the domestic EV industry in the future. If they prove successful, it will launch three more models by the end of the year (October 2024) including large sedan Han, hybrid crossover Song and midsize crossover Tang.

Welcoming BYD, DBPLUS is honored to cooperate in the design and build BYD’s representative office in Vietnam. The BYD’s offices were officially completed and put into operation in July 2024, after the launching event. Located on the 10th floor of COBI TOWER 2, the high-class office building in the middle of Phu My Hung urban area – District 7, this is a global-standard project with 845 m2 serving nearly 100 BYD’s employees. 

The BYD requirement is  youthful office space that not only expresses the vision of “Technology leading a green world” but also characterized the spirit of “Constant innovations for a better life”. DBPLUS chose “The light” to convey the entire core values ​​of the business through every interior design in the office. BYD’s position about connection, co-creation, forward acceleration are shown through color scheme, design elements and logo display which express the moral of a global business.  

“The light” is a symbol of aesthetic, forward acceleration and creative inspiration, guiding the path into world expansion. Combined with the new approaching office design of “Beyond the Office”, DBPLUS has created a light-filled workspace, promoting openness, encouraging connection and co-creation. With the neutral colors, bold patterns and a lighting system designed in a unique curve, a modern workspace fully expressing the spirit of BYD, is formed.

The entire office is divided into areas including reception, pantry, open workspace for 13 departments, meeting rooms and other functional rooms (CEO and COO room, private rooms, storage room, server room) which are fully equipped with interiors and facilities, serving the needs of both work and relaxation. 

With a human-centered design, multifunctional zones and flexible furniture are created to meet diverse needs such as multi-layout meeting rooms, phone booths, relaxation areas and game zones, in order to promote collaboration, community engagement among employees and bringing a sense of comfort when working or resting. The activity-based working (ABW) model is also applied in interior design; multiple spaces for work are formed instead of fixed areas. Leveraging intelligent furnishings, flexible partitions, versatile storage shelves, and hot desking facilitates space adjustments according to usage needs. This contributes in boosting work productivity and creativity for employees.

Integrating technology into every design detail is extremely important, especially for a technology company like BYD, where technology is not only a supporting device but also a communication tool, the most effective catalyst in the working process and innovation of the business. Therefore, high-tech equipment (touch screens, digital devices, sensors and automatic systems) are arranged everywhere to bring convenience to the workspace.

In addition, employee’s well-being is also notable. DBPLUS has combined biophilic design and smart interior, in which, maximizing natural light, interspersing greenery and equipping ergonomic furniture, functional areas to ensure physical and mental health for each individual. DBPLUS’s module factory is responsible for providing furniture for the entire project, commiting the supply of high quality products that meet standards.
